Hi this is Nick Brodd and I’m fascinated by our fast evolution and how it impacts us authors. The short story? Connecting with an audience is faster and easier than ever before.
For the first time in history you can actually take your writing to the next level while running it all from your basement or garage. The requirement to leave home and visit publishers and customers is gone.
But there is more good news. You don’t need a lot of capital. In fact you don’t even need to be that good with technology. Most of what you need is readily available on the internet.
Here are 3 forces in play that makes building an audience faster and easier than ever before:
- Powerful Tools on a Budget. I remember the days when it took a serious professional to build a simple blog. It was both expensive and ineffective. Now everything has changed. WordPress is highly customizable and makes it exceptionally simple to make a great impression on your audience. On top of that you can interact on social media and create most content with a cheap phone or tablet computer.
- Unrestricted Information Everywhere. I started flirting with the idea to build an internet business 10 years ago. Back then most How To advice was either difficult to obtain or very expensive. Consequently most people ended up trying to figure it out on their own and eventually gave up. Today you can get a ton of free advice on blogs. But even if you do want to buy some programs to get you up to speed (which I recommend), it often doesn’t cost you the farm anymore.
- Nearsighted Results. Just like many of you, I have a demanding day job. Traveling around meeting customers would be impossible for me. Social media makes all the difference here. From your desk you can build and instantaneously reach a massive audience. And I’ve proven to myself and other skeptics that it can be done fast, as I’ve taken my own Twitter account from zero to almost 20,000 connections in less than 6 months. Check out how here.
This new world is leaving a massive amount of opportunities in your lap. In limited time and with a relatively small budget you can have a much larger reach and impact than ever before. The destiny is in your hand and it’s a great time to get started.
