Aside from the product page for your book, you will also be responsible for building an author page once you have decided to sell your book with the help of Amazon. Your author page is one of the most important components to becoming an established author as it will show your readers who you are and the past pieces of work that you have finished. There are a variety of things that you will want to consider having on your Amazon author page.

1. Your Name/Pen Name

The first thing that every reader should see is the name of the author. This will help them to identify with you and it is the first step to establishing the client/business relationship. Essentially readers are more likely to purchase books from authors that they are familiar with. Much like a typical conversation, introducing yourself by using your name is a great way to familiarize yourself with your readers.

2. Biography

Above all of the other aspects of your author page on Amazon, it is imperative that you write an effective and clear biography. You won’t want to focus too much on the small aspects of your life, instead, focus on how your career started and how writing has influenced your life. This is another step to help establish a layer of trust with your readers as they will be able to get to know you through your biography. If you find that you are having difficulty writing about yourself, have friends and family members write a small blurb about you and then combine them all to create a biography. The most amount of time spent creating your author page should be focussed on your biography.

3. Photographs

People are more likely to connect with certain things if they are able to visualize them in their head. With that being said, make sure that you have professional and high-quality images of yourself on your author page.

4. Links to Social Media

Every person has social media websites and they are particularly important for authors. Make sure that you have links to your public social media profiles so that readers can start following you.

5. Videos

Videos provide the same benefits as photographs, aside from the fact that they are far more visually stimulating. If you have any recorded interviews of yourself or commercials about your book, consider uploading them to your Amazon author page.

6. Events

If you have any upcoming speaking arrangements or readings, make sure that you constantly update your appearances calendar so your readers can stay up to date with your professional schedule.

7. Feeds

Another great aspect of the Amazon author page is that you can link your blog or website directly to your page. This will allow you to set up feeds to your blog or site without having to manually post anything to your Amazon page.
