Hi I’m Al Bargen, and last week I told you about a little secret of mine. You were also informed that the cat would be let out of the bag, and here it is.
I confessed recently that I get my best ideas while working out or jogging. It’s cumbersome to carry a clipboard and pen whilst ‘on the jog’ so I got into the habit of using the notepad application that comes with the iphone.
Now I have the model 4s and it suits me just fine. It has speech recognition, and this is where the magic comes in. The standard headphones or ear-buds have the microphone needed.
Like most of you, I write at least a little bit every day. Having many posts to write weekly and having several books on the go, a nice peaceful jog or run is just the right thing to oxygenate the blood, and refresh the ideas.
Jogging along, minding my own business and suddenly Wham! a brilliant thought just pops into my head. And when that fantastic idea, or newer angle on a point I wanted to make arrives, out comes the phone.
The video gives the details, but the basics are what follows.
Using speech recognition, I speak into microphone with notepad. Then email it to myself. Get home and copy paste to a word document, and a few edits and an image later it’s on the site, and scheduled for release. It really is that simple.
I’ve also written entire posts while stretching after a training session. This works wonderfully for me, so I encourage you to adopt all, or some of these ideas into your busy schedule.
Comment: If you have a faster way to record your brilliant thoughts the moment you have them, we would love to hear about it. Please share.
