Use your free Kindle days right and your book will get massive downloads and propel into a bestseller. Use them wrongly and your book’s success will be limited. It’s as simple as that.

But regardless of which category your book ends up in, way to many see sales and ranking drop significantly after the launch. I’ve got good news. It doesn’t have to be this way. There are ways to keep the book buzzing even after the free Kindle days are gone. Here’s how.

  1. Gift copies. Make an announcement in your social media network, to your list and on your blog that you are gifting copies of your book for a limited time. You’d be amazed at how many people will respond to this. And now you will keep the buzz going for a while longer.
  2. Thank your supporters and encourage them to post a review. After the free promo, it’s just good business sense to thank those who have downloaded your book. It’s also a good time to encourage them to post a review.
  3. Carefully tweet excerpts of positive reviews together with the link to your Amazon site. You don’t want to come across as someone who brags. But occasionally showing prospective readers what reviewers think of your book can be a smart tactic. After all, positive reviews tend to generate interest, interest which can compel readers to purchase the book. Re-tweets from your most influential followers would also create greater exposure.
  4. Run a price drop promo (preferably a $0.99 special). Everybody loves a good deal. After the free promo, the original price is re-instated. With stellar reviews, it wouldn’t be so difficult to sell the book at its original price. But to keep momentum you may want to run a price drop promo across platforms.

The important thing to remember is to keep promoting your book through your various social media networks, on your email list and on your blog. This will keep your book buzzing even after a successful free kindle promo.
